Delightful success of Projects Vizhuthugal & Sargam:

Sargam:

Rotaract Club of East Coast, this year celebrates the World Rotaract Week with more joys for yet another success of our Joint projects Vizhuthugal & Sargam.

On 9th March Sunday, Rotaract Club of East Coast and Rotaract club of Pachiyappas college jointly hosted the Project Sargam, a Musical show, a fund raising event for HOPE (Home for AIDS children) foundation. The event was organized in Chinmay Heritage center, Harrington road, Chennai.

Sargam, a musical event which had a blend of all kind of music, was well enjoyed by all demographics of people. The event was inaugurated with a traditional carnatic song, followed by a fusion mix of both Traditional and Western Jazz. Then followed the rap and hip-hops, a powerful performance by singers from cine field, like Rajeswari (singer of koku para para from Chandramuki) and Singer Naresh Iyear, who gave an offbeat of good fast, beats.

A Radio Jockey of Big FM, a fellow Rotaractor, anchored the whole program who splendidly took away the program. His humorous hosting was an additional entertainment for the audience. The performers on stage were both from the fellow rotaractors and children’s from HOPE foundations. We had cherishing audience off the stage who really gave an inspirational support for the performers on the stage. Audience who actively participated in the off stage events were given Gift vouchers from Naturals, Beauty Salon.

Sargam had its best success and with overwhelming response this year too. We East Coasters salute the fellow Rotaractors and other attendees for their support given for off and on stage events. Again on the behalf of the Sargam organizers we thank all the Rotarians and other sponsors like Big FM 92.7, Lounge cool drinks.

Vizhuthugal:

Vizhuthugal is a Career management program for under-privileged children, hosted jointly by three clubs, Rotaract club of East Coast, Rotaract club of Akash, & Rotaract club of Chennai Central.

This is yet, another success for the all the three clubs, who were the organizers for this event, which happened in a village near Utherameru, near Vedanthangal, Chengalpet. The school children from the near by schools of this village were made to attend the program upon which they were put into a career management training. The event took place for two days where 120 School Children participated. They were provided free accommodation and food for two full days by the clubs.

The children were given training on their examination management, career management after their higher secondary schooling, etc. They were also trained in other areas like improvising their talents in Co-Curricular activities, etc. The event was full of joy and useful for all the kids, which made the program a grand success.

The program was attended by senior Rotarians and people from Seva vidhyalaya. At the end of the program, prizes were distributed for best performers among the kids, and all the people from the rural school and the organizers were given compliments for the efforts made.

The bottom line of this project as quoted by a teacher at the valedictory function “ Enjoy and learn for the Children, for the Teachers and for the Rotaractors”. I am sure, we don’t require more testimonials than this, to scale the success of the event.

Approximately around 30,000Rs($750 US Dollar ) would be
involved for the project, where this project being an Joint project between three rotaract clubs, East Coast, Akash and Chennai Central.

Rotaract Club of East Coast

East Coast Logo A handful of energetic youngsters from various college based clubs joined together and wanted to have their own community based club which would provide them a platform to fulfill their dreams and help them to build a strong foundation for their Rotaract Career. The club took shape and was launched on February 15, 2004 during an Annual District Rotaract Conference by then World Rotaract Chairman Rtn. Philly Kirani. Yes, the Rotaract Club of East Coast is supposed to be the only club that has the honour of getting launched by a sitting World Rotaract Chairman in a District Conference.

Having launched, the club had a determination of promoting friendship and betterment of its members and the society as well and the club theme says the same - “Commitment towards betterment”. The club has successfully three full years of its functioning with the fourth year coming to a close on August 15, 2007. The relationship between the members had grown up strong and the club has a count 45 members as on date. The club is getting stronger and stronger day by day and is heading towards glorious years. The club is also focusing strongly towards corporate governance which would be a feather in its cap.
